There are a number of future plans for rail in the Woolwich area:
Docklands Light Railway
Transport for London are currently constructing an extension of the London City Airport branch of the Docklands Light Railway from its current terminus at King George V to Woolwich Arsenal. Due to the technical challenges of boring a tunnel under the Thames, the plan is not expected to be completed until 2009. Work started in December 2005 when the extension to King George V was complete.
During the 2012 Olympic Games the station will be used by spectators to journey to the shooting events being held at the nearby Royal Artillery Barracks. DLR trains from the station will connect directly to the London Olympic Park at Stratford International.
